Here are my most frequently asked questions. Please refer to these before emailing me!

I take on select freelance work that aligns with my creative direction and artistic goals. I’m currently focused on projects in TV anime, film, original or adaptation character design, and animation-related roles such as sakkan (animation direction) and layout.
I’m not available for personal or original productions, such as fan animation shorts or passion projects. Thank you for understanding!

Yes! Our studio is uniquely interested in productions created abroad. If you are looking to get a TV series or film made with an authentic Japanese look, please reach out!

I love sharing my work and connecting with others through events!
If you're hosting a panel, workshop, or industry talk and need a guest with real production experience, feel free to reach out. I used to travel across the U.S. speaking at anime conventions, leading workshops, and giving lectures — and I’d love to do more of that, in Japan or abroad.

  • Learn Japanese (some is better than none!)
You need basic communication skills to work in a studio.
  • Learn to Draw: You can't get a job in anime if you have no drawing skills. Study perspective, anatomy, hard surface, effects, or anything that interests you.
  • Understand the anime pipeline: Learn the roles: genga, douga, layout, sakkan, etc.
  • Become practiced in anime style. Study genga, watch youtube videos in japanese and take courses.
  • Learn Animation fundamentals: from Kyoto Animation Text book or other resources.
  • Make a strong portfolio: Include genga-style drawings, anime fan art, and finished cuts.
  • Start small: Freelance for indie projects, or apply for in-between or douga roles to get your foot in the door.
  • Get to Japan: Most studios can’t sponsor beginners. Start with a student visa or a working holiday if possible.

For now, I can't take on any pupils, but keep an eye out for any workshops or lectures I do! I may work with Warrior Art Camp again in the future.
